Nostalgia Collection

This series of paintings explores themes of memory, reflection, and identity. From an old lighthouse keeper reminiscing about his sea days, to children recalling summer joys, a rebellious adult confronting her strict upbringing, and elderly lovers unveiling past secrets.

The Lighthouse Keeper

An elderly man reflects on his past as a Lighthouse Keeper, reminiscing about the happy times spent at sea. Now retired, he fondly remembers his career. The water emerging from the painting evokes the fierce storms he faced during those proud years. Medium: Acrylic, Size: 60cm x 41 cm

Winter Kills

The second painting, with a playful tone, shows two children in winter clothes, hand in hand, reminiscing about the summer. They reflect on happier times at the beach. The sand in the bucket adds a surreal touch, symbolising their beach activities. Medium: Acrylic, Size: 60cm x 41 cm

Retribution

The third painting depicts a child punished in a strict Catholic school, with her teddy bear taken away as a symbol of lost comfort. Now an adult, she views the scene rebelliously, her suggestive clothing showing that her upbringing had little effect. Medium: Acrylic, Size: 60cm x 41 cm

The Lovers

My final painting pays homage to Magritte, portraying love with hidden identities. I added birds emerging from the painting and used covered faces to symbolise the secrecy of past affairs. Now elderly, the lovers unveil themselves, represented by scarves. Medium: Acrylic, Size: 60cm x 41 cm
